All You Need to Know

Following the strong success of the 2025 event, Clare County Council’s Tourism Department is inviting attractions and activity providers to take part in ‘Be a Tourist in Your Own County Clare’ 2026 — a proven opportunity to drive local engagement and incremental business.

The 2026 event takes place on Saturday and Sunday, April 18–19, with Sunday as the main event day. Participating attractions may extend their offer to additional dates either side of the weekend — for example to Friday, April 17 or Monday, April 20 — if they wish.

Sunday is expected to generate the strongest engagement and county-wide momentum.
Saturday is also strongly encouraged and typically attracts significant traction.
Friday and/or Monday is available primarily for those who wish to open and participate on those days (particularly to accommodate attractions/experiences that are closed at weekends).

This initiative is designed to:

  • Encourage local engagement and exploration of County Clare
  • Equip residents with first-hand experiences they can confidently recommend to others during the season ahead
  • Generate incremental business across the weekend

Your Offer – How It Works

We are inviting attractions and activity providers to create an extra-special offer for the day or days you choose to participate between April 18–19, 2026.

Most participants traditionally offer 50% off admissions as a strong incentive, and this remains a recommended guideline – but offers must be strong to stimulate interest.

You may choose to:

  • Accept the official ‘Be a Tourist’ generic vouchers, and/or
  • Require advance booking using a promotional code you provide

Important: Your offer does not need to apply to all visitors — only to those presenting a voucher or booking under your stated terms. This ensures the promotion drives incremental business rather than displacing existing trade.

Please clearly indicate your selected dates and booking requirements when submitting your offer.

Managing Capacity & Demand

Several attractions experienced a significant surge in visitors during the event, particularly on Sunday.

If your capacity is limited, we recommend advance online or phone booking using a promotional code.
If you can accommodate increased footfall, accepting vouchers at the door may help maximise spontaneous visits.

When submitting your offer on the form below, please outline:

  • Applicable date(s)
  • Whether pre-booking is required and if so how to book e.g. using a promotional code.
  • Any operational conditions

Clear communication ensures a smooth experience for both you and your visitors.

Creating a Strong, Engaging Offer

The success of this promotion depends on compelling offers that genuinely stimulate interest.

  • 50% off admissions remains the recommended benchmark
  • Offers must provide clear value
  • Excessively restrictive offers may not be included

The objective is to generate incremental visits and additional revenue.

Promotional Plan 2026

Promotion will commence post-Easter to give the event clear visibility while avoiding any impact on important Easter trading.

The promotional campaign is being finalised and is expected to include most of the following:

  • Clare Echo
  • Clare Champion
  • Clare FM
  • Limerick Post
  • Limerick Leader
  • Targeted social media
  • Targeted outreach to employers, business networks and representative associations
  • via VisitClare.ie and its social media
  • A digital booklet of offers

Participating attractions are encouraged to promote their involvement across their own channels and visual posts will be made available for their use.

The ‘Be a Tourist’ Consumer Vouchers 2026

Updated 2026 vouchers will be provided to consumers.

Participating attractions may:

  • Accept printed vouchers on the relevant day(s), or
  • Require booking in advance using a promotional code

The vouchers will feature in local newspapers and across social media to drive strong awareness and participation.
